MPSC Syllabus for Prelim राज्यसेवेच्या पूर्वपरीक्षेचा अभ्यासक्रम


Paper 1

1. The current events of state, national and international importance.

2. History of India (with special reference to Maharashtra) and the Indian National Movement.


3. Maharashtra, India and world geography - physical, social, economic geography of Maharashtra, India and the world.


4. Maharashtra and India - Polity and governance - constitution, political system, Panchayati Raj, urban governance, public policy, issues of human rights, etc.


5. The economic and social development - sustainable development, poverty, inclusion, demography, social sector initiatives, etc.


6. General issues on environmental ecology, biodiversity and climate change, which does not require specialization.


7. General science.


Paper 2

1. Comprehension 

2. Interpersonal skills including communication skills. 


3. Logical reasoning and analytical ability. 


4. Decision -  making and problem - solving. 


5. General mental ability. 


6. Basic numeracy (numbers and their relations, orders of magnitude, etc.- Class X level), Data interpretation(Charts, graphs, tables, data sufficiency etc.- Class X level) 


7. Marathi and English comprehension skills of language (Class X / XII level).

Please note the following points:

1. Issues regarding Marathi and English language comprehension skills of class X / XII (last item in the Syllabus of Paper II) level will be 
tested through passages of Marathi and English language without providing cross translation thereof in document issue.

2. The questions will be multiple choice, objective type.


3. It is mandatory for the applicant to appear in paper 1 and paper 2 of state services (Preliminary) examination for evaluation purpose. 
Therefore, an applicant will be disqualified if he / she does not appear in the paper 1 and paper 2 of state services (Preliminary) Examination.
